Praying in the Spirit Using the Word of God for Week #31

Entry #0031  Praying to the Name that is Above Every Name

Some people pray to their ancestors or  to nature. Other people do not pray at all. If we are going to spend time and energy in prayer, we may as well pray to someone who actually hears us and can solve all of our problems. Jesus was given a name above all names by our Heavenly Father God, after He sacrificed His life for our salvation. Every knee will bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is the Lord.  There is no other name given unto men whereby we must be saved. Jesus has been called many things; all indicating some aspect of His character. He has been called names like the Lamb of God, the Good Shepherd, The Alpha and Omega, The Lily in the Valley, the Bright and Morning Star, the Root out of Dry Ground, the Rose of Sharon. The name of Jesus is a weapon of spiritual warfare. Demons tremble at His name. Because of Jesus, we have a song that the angels cannot sing; we have been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. Because of that redemption, God has signed our names on heaven’s book of life, and has changed our name to sons of God. Now are we the sons of God, and it does not yet appear what we shall be.  When He comes back for us, we shall see Him as He is in all of His glory and splendor, not as the suffering servant He was in times past. In ancient times, names had more significant meanings than that do today. People would name their children based on what they experienced having them, the destiny they wanted them to walk into, and/or the endearing feelings they had toward them. Often times, people lived up to the meaning of their name. Our names sometimes indicate our heritage and family legacy. But if our name here on earth is not significant, we have a new name written down in glory. If what people call us today is not positive or inspiring, we can choose to focus on what God calls us; His beloved, the apple of His eye, heirs and joint heirs of Jesus Christ. God has given us the power to name our circumstances and to call things that are not as though they are through faith. Jesus has empowered us to decree a benediction over our lives, and to call ourselves strong in Him when we are weak. The name of Jesus carries power, protection, provision, authority, mercy and peace. So praying to the name that is above all names is tapping into the anointing, and grace that Jesus has already made available to us.
