Entry #0022 The New Faith Singers
The New Faith Singers were formed in 1991 out of the ministry of The New Faith Non-Denominational House of Prayer Church. In the beginning, Elder Gwendolyn Green was inspired to write songs that were sung by the Children’s Choir of the Trinitarian Apostolic Faith Church. As time passed, singers joined together to form the group and late recorded many of those inspired songs.
Upon reaching the masses with songs of praise, The New Faith Singers have received reports of healing, deliverance, comfort, and dedication of souls to Christ through their ministry.
The late Gabriel Hardeman formed the Gabriel Hardeman Delegation in 1973. The group signed to Savoy Records where they recorded hits like “Feels Like Fire”, and also won a Grammy Award nomination.
Over the years Gabriel Hardeman has collaborated with the Sharon Baptist Church Choir, the Wilmington Chester Mass Choir, the Philadelphia Mass Choir, Edwin Hawkins, and the Gospel Music Workshop of America Choir. Known as a singer and songwriter, he also arranged songs and sang background. His last project “To the Chief Musician” was nominated for a Stellar Award in 2001.
Entry #0020 Joy Unlimited Youth Mass Choir
Joy Unlimited Youth Mass Choir is a vibrant group of young singers from various denominations and ethnic backgrounds, unified by the desire to proclaim the Gospel through song. Geared to provide youth and young adults with a musical foundation in the performing arts, the Joy Unlimited Movement provides a positive and safe outlet for fellowship and spiritual growth. They have appeared on several television shows, on many tours, and won 3 major gospel singing competitions. Joy Unlimited performed with local and national groups and artists, during ball games, and inauguration ceremonies.
Founded by the late John B. Samuels in 1990, Joy Unlimited has become a vehicle of opportunity for young people to nurture and develop their musical talents. Under the direction of Charlotte Webb, the group captivated audiences with energetic, unique choreography and powerful, soul stirring harmonies. Joy Unlimited sing God praises while empowering the Philadelphia area through the performing arts.
Entry# 0019 Kevin Jarido and Nu Virtu
Birthed out Bethany Baptist Church in New Jersey, Kevin Jarido and Nu Virtu bring the holistic healing power of praise and worship to every listener. The dynamic group carried the message of hope to homeless shelters, detention centers, colleges, and concert and entertainment venues. They have performed in the Gospel Explosion III, Dare to Dream convention, and the Gospel Comedy Slam as well as along side Donnie McClurkin, James Fortune and Richard Smallwood.
Serving as an 8th grade Math teacher, Kevin Jarido, began singing classical music at age 13. He suffered from severe depression in college, was introduced to the school choir, and dedicated his life to Christ and to singing for His glory. He organized Nu Virtu in 2004, and he served as a Director of Worship in Philadelphia. Nu Virtu was nominated for both a Stellar and Grammy Award in 2009.
Entry# 0018 The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Church of God in Christ Mass Choir
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Church of God in Christ Mass Choir is comprised of choir members from various churches in the Commonwealth of PA Jurisdiction of the COGIC denomination. Musical Leadership includes the late Madame Kitty Parham-State Music Department President, Harold J. Thompson-Jurisdiction Minister of Music, Daren K. Miller-Assistant Jurisdiction Minister of Music, and Ernest Sauders-Assistant Minister of Music.
Based in the Philadelphia and Harrisburg areas, churches come together annually for their Holy Convocation. This gathering provides opportunities for new songwriters, singers, and musicians to display their gifts and talents, while having some of their original material sung and recorded by the mass choir. The Commonwealth of PA COGIC Mass Choir continues to minister locally and abroad throughout the year.
