Praying in the Spirit Using the Word of God for Week #3

Entry# 003 Praying in the Spirit

God is a spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. Everything we do, including prayer, must be done in the spirit. We do not only have a physical body that we can see with the naked eye, but we also have a soul and spirit that can only be seen through the eyes of God. Our bodies allow us to function on the earth realm. Our soul is what is saved by God’s grace. Our spirit is what connects us to our Heavenly Father. Just as the ocean has a whole world that we may never be able to fully see or explore, the spirit world is vast and endless that we cannot see with our naked eye. The spirit world contains angels, principalities, demons, and heavenly beings that we can often discern in the spirit realm. Satan is the prince of the air, and roams to and fro seeking whom he may devour. He comes to steal, kill, and destroy. But Jesus, who is King of Kings and Lord of Lords, came that we may have and enjoy life, to the fullest, and have it more abundantly. The Devil wants to destroy our faith, consequently destroying our ability to please God. For he knows without faith it is impossible to please God. This is why it is imperative for us to be intentional about developing a routine of being focused and disciplined in prayer. We have to do the hard but important work of getting into God’s presence and cultivate a relationship with Him. For as we pray in the spirit with faith, believing God hears us and loves us, we discover that He already knows what we have need of, and He desires to grant our petitions made to Him in prayer and supplication. As we pray in the spirit, we began to discern God’s will for our lives on a deeper spiritual level.

Sample Simple Prayer

Holy Spirit we thank you for being my Comforter, Teacher and Friend. We pray that you would lead and guide me into all truth as we develop a relationship with you by getting into your presence where there is fullness of joy. Please help us to make prayer a priority this new year, so that I can perceive you will and plan for our lives. Help us to boldly come into your presence to with thanksgiving and praise. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
