Entry #040 Kim Sledge
Kim Sledge was born and raised in Philadelphia. She attended Olney High School, Temple University and Rutgers Law School. Sledge served as Chaplain for the Philadelphia Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, as board member of House of Cheyah International, co-founder of the Paradise Project Ministries, Vice President and C.O.O. of Malaju Records and member of the famed Philadelphia group Sister Sledge. She was ordained in 2003, and has traveled extensively throughout the world in the ministry of singing and speaking. Sledge’s musical career began with singing in local Philadelphia churches with her sisters. Kim Sledge serves as an intercessor with a mission to carry the gospel and love of Jesus Christ through a lifestyle of service to mankind.
Entry #039 Rodney Talley
With a blend of modern soul sounds saturated with vocal harmonies and inspiring lyrics, Rodney Talley is a force to be reckoned with in today’s gospel music industry. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Talley began singing at age eleven. He is the youngest of four siblings growing up in a God fearing household. His life and ministry reflects excellence in every domain, whether worshipping in song, dance, or preaching. A first-class vocalist, Talley is also founder and executive director of Renewing the Ministries. He served as the International Dance Director for the United Covenant Churches of Christ under Bishop Larry Trotter, building and providing training for over 300 worship art ministries. He opened The Art of Worship Academy, a non-profit local performing arts school with a global vision. Talley has served as Dance Director at the Baptist Worship Center in Philadelphia, and has degrees in both business administration and Bible. As a singer, choreographer, minister, mentor and lyricist, Talley shared the stage with many gospel greats from Karen Clark Sheard to Darryl Coley. He continues to travel throughout the country mentoring, teaching, and choreographing for ministries nationwide, and prays that the recipients of his ministry look beyond his talent and are led into heartfelt worship.
Entry #038 Freddy Washington
A native of New Jersey, Freddy Washington has had a heart for worship and service from a young age. Serving in his father’s ministry inspired him to venture into the music realm for himself. Washington garnered Grammy, Stellar, and Dove Award nominations for production with artists like the Da’Truth and Melinda Watts. While traveling internationally as a preacher and musical clinician, he achieved success as a writer and producer. Washington wrote and produced his debut album in its entirety, and has traveled throughout the United States, Switzerland, Germany, France, Austria, and the British West Indies leading God’s people into worship.
Entry #037 Carol Calloway
Carol Calloway is a singer, songwriter, producer, vocal coach, directress, and actress. She was singer and directress with the Southern Regional Gospel Choir in the late 1980’s, and for the late Ernest Davis Jr’s Wilmington Chester Mass Choir. In the 1990’s she worked with the Tri-State Mass Choir of the Edwin Hawkins Music and Arts Seminar, Inc. Calloway was afforded the opportunity to sing background for renowned gospel artist like Albertina Walker, Dorothy Norwood and Donnie McClurkin. She has served as a background vocalist for Redemption, a musical ensemble founded by Carolyn Ransom and produced by Edwin Hawkins. After settling in Harrisburg, Pa Calloway got involved with community outreach. She was board member for the New Hamilton Community Development Corp, and served as youth director for Youth Caring for the Community. She was also the founder and business manager of the Youth Crusaders for Christ Mass Choir, a youth community choir with young people ages 10-25 from various churches in Harrisburg and surrounding areas. Calloway was awarded The Gospel Singer of the Year Award for the city of Harrisburg in April 2001, appeared in several magazines, and was presented a resolution from the Harrisburg City Council for all of her musical accomplishments in March of 2005.
