Entry 27 Praying to a God who is Good, Love and Holy
God is good all the time, and all the time God is good. There is none good but the Father. Yet everything He created in the beginning, including us, was good. Life is often hard, people are sometimes bad, and many of life’s situations are not good. But even the bad things of life God will cause to work out for our good when we love and trust Him. It is in those circumstances where we experience the most spiritual growth. When we are in challenging situations, it is very hard to see God as love. God does not just love us unconditionally, He is love. He gave His only begotten beloved Son to show His love toward us. We pass the test when we maintain that God loves us in the trying times, and when we trust in His love and grace to see us through them. God is holy. He wants us to be holy as He is. The only way we can truly walk in holiness is to allow God to live and work through us. Our best effort will not result in a holy life in our own strength; we must rest in the holiness of God. When we believe right we will live right because we understand that God is living in us. We need to always be aware of who God is, and see Him in every situation. We call Him by many names: Jehovah, Addonai, Elohim, etc., all of which denotes some special aspect of His character. But when we come to know Him as good, love and holy, it becomes easy to make Him the Lord of our lives. So praying to a God who we know to be good, love and holy, is praying to become more and more like Him.
