Entry 26 Praying to Avoid Premature Death

The bible declares that the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Jesus came to give us abundant life. For it is appointed unto man once to die and after this the judgment. But we can die prematurely. God never intended for us to die; Adam gave Satan the keys to bring sin and death into the world. Jesus came and snatched the keys of death, hell and the grave from Satan, so that we may have the right to the tree of life. So whereas we may die physically now, when we are in Christ we abide with Him forever. Our souls will never die. Either they will live in heaven eternally with God in the end, or we will suffer forever in hell with Satan. We all have a set time and season to live and to die. We can die prematurely with our lifestyles, personal choices and worldviews. If we live life like it is one big party not taking care of our temple, we can expect Satan to bring death to us before our time. If we choose to eat improperly, dishonor our parents, or engage in sexual debauchery, we are inviting death into our lives prematurely. If we think incorrectly believing God wants us to die and not live, or think we do not deserve to live an abundant life in Christ, we cancel out the promises of God and His blessings over our lives. None of us get from God what we deserve; even our righteousness is as a filthy rag in His sight. But Jesus came to give us the mercy and grace to live a satisfied life in Him. With long life God will satisfy us and show us His salvation. So praying to avoid premature death is inviting God’s presence, blessings and promises into our lives daily.

Entry 25 Praying to Access our Spiritual DNA

In the physical world, DNA is Deoxyribonucleic acid which is a molecule that encodes the genetic instructions used in the development and functioning of all known living organisms and many viruses. It is the hereditary material in humans and almost all other organisms located in the cell nucleus. The function of DNA is long-term storage used as a template to make transcription which directs the assembly of a protein in a translation. Human DNA can replicate, and consists of about 3 billion bases, and more than 99 % of those bases are the same in all people. Our spiritual DNA is just as involved and complex. God puts a piece of Himself in each one of us that we can either access for His kingdom, or allow to lie dormant and ineffective within. We all have a king and a fool inside of us. The one we nurture will grow the most and become the most evident in our lives. God’s holy DNA can overcome the tarnished DNA of our sin nature, our generational curses, and our bad experiences. No longer do we have the excuse of poor upbringing, lack of opportunity, or a non-existent support system as a reason for our failures in life. We have God’s favor, love and provision that we can access at anytime if we turn to Him. Turning to God should be the first thing we do, not an after thought. So praying to access our spiritual DNA, is chasing after God seeking Him diligently so that we can walk effortlessly into God plan and will for our lives.

Entry 24 Praying to Live Without Regret

We often experience the most growth in painful situations and when we are faced with our own mortality. It is then when we experience a range of emotions from denial to anger to fear to acceptance. In the painful situations we often regret the choices we made, our inability to use time and resources wisely, and our indecision to learn from our mistakes. The most common regrets that people have when faced with death include: wishing they had the courage to live a life true to themselves and not the life others expected, wishing they didn’t work so hard, wishing they had the courage to express their feelings, wishing they stayed in contact with friends, and wishing that they allowed themselves to be happier. But God wants us to live a life of no regrets. He wants us to have the attitude of knowing and accepting that He has all things in His control, and that He has a good plan for our lives. So instead of looking at our painful situations with regret, we can view them as learning experiences and stepping stones toward our destiny. When faced with our mortality, instead of rehearsing a life of regrets, we can rejoice in the fact that to live is Christ and to die is gain. When we are at the end of our road, we can look back with a grateful heart knowing that we were not perfect, but we are justified by grace through faith in God. Praying to live without regret is choosing to live life consciously, wisely, honestly and with the joy of the Lord.

Entry 23 Praying to be Thankful in a Thankless Job

We often do things on a regular basis that goes unnoticed and unappreciated. The greatest jobs that exist are those that serve others. If we want to be great in the kingdom of heaven, we must seek to serve much on the earth. But those social and civil service jobs are often frown upon, and workers sometimes receive less pay for doing them. The benefits are generally very good, however. So is it in the spiritual realm. When we are servants of Jesus Christ, we are often devalued and overlooked. But the eternal benefits are monumental. Not only will we receive stars on our crowns in heaven, we get to live in God’s favor and blessings here on earth. That thankless job may be a blessing in disguise. It can provides a source of income, it can helps us clarify and articulate our goals, it can afford us the opportunity to access and utilize our skills and talents, it can provide networking opportunities, and it can sparkle a change in our lives causing us to reevaluating our paths and do some introspection. Jesus healed 10 men at one time and only one came back to say thank you. Praying to be thankful in a thankless job is choosing to see God‘s goodness in every situation. That’s why we need to be thankful in all things, for God causes them all to work out for our good.

Entry 22 Praying for Prosperity

People often feel like it is inappropriate to ask God for prosperity. They often equate being a devoted Christian to taking a vow of poverty, and living holy to living in lack. Some people feel that God wants us to suffer in this world, living without the basic things we need and want, awaiting the great by and by to have a crown in glory. But God desires for us to prosper and be in good health even as our soul prospers on this earth. He owns the cattle on ten thousand hills, and looks for opportunities to bless us daily. God wants us to enjoy, not simply endure everyday life to the fullest, till it overflows. Our witness and testimony for Christ is greatest when the world sees the favor and blessing of God on our lives. When God blesses us indeed, and enlarges our territory, we can more effectively bless others and destroy the works of the kingdom of darkness. We are prosperous when we are healthy mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually, and financially. This is God’s ultimate plan for our lives; He wants to prosper us. We get into trouble by not asking God for prosperity, but seeking it arrogantly in our own strength. God wants us to trust Him to prosper us. When we built our prosperity, our tower of Babel, without involving God in the process, we can expect to be scattered, confounded, and defeated. But when we build our hope on things eternal, praying for God to prosper us, we can expect to live in peace, grace, and prosperity.

Entry 21 Praying to become the Righteousness of God

When we come to Jesus, accepting His gift of salvation, believing that He died and rose again to redeem us, and confessing our sins for Him to cleanse and forgive us, we become the righteousness of God. The Lord casts all of our sins into the sea of forgetfulness and covers us with the blood of Jesus. True repentance is changing our minds and properly believing in God’s word, therefore, changing our behavior. It involves rejecting our will, plan, and worldview, and humbly accepting the perfect will of God for our lives. Self righteousness is relying on our own thoughts, abilities, ideas, and good works to be justified before God. Not realizing that our righteousness is as a filthy rag to a holy God. Becoming the righteousness of God means that we are justified by grace through faith, not works of the flesh. It means that we confess what God says about us, believing that our behavior, lifestyle and fruit will eventually display it. Jesus was the perfect sacrifice for all of our sins, past, present and future. And He was appointed only once to die to justify us to the Father as the redeemed sons of God. So praying to become the righteousness of God is asking God for the revelation and the faith to accept His gift of love, mercy, grace and favor as we are made right by the blood of the Lamb.
